Mr. Ameet Desai is the Founder of Anubhuti Advisors LLP, an investment advisory firm that launched its first fund in December 2019. The fund was successfully retired in September 2024, delivering a 20% outperformance against the Nifty and generating a 2.5x return on invested capital. He has also served as a member of the CII Corporate Governance Council and the CII National Committee on Financial Markets. Among the various board positions he has held, he currently serves as an Independent Director on the boards of Ambuja Cements Ltd., Ganesh Housing Corporation Ltd., Hester Biosciences Ltd., JM Financial Ltd., and Corona Remedies Pvt. Ltd.
Mr. Desai has a distinguished career spanning more than 35 years across corporate India. During his final executive assignment with the Adani Group, he served as Executive Director and Group Chief Financial Officer. He led two initial public offerings (IPOs) out of the four listings completed by the Group’s seven listed entities. He possesses extensive expertise in treasury, corporate finance, business strategy, and organisational development. As Chief Executive Officer of the Adani Family Office, he established a distinguished track record in portfolio management.
As a member of the Group’s Apex Team, Mr. Desai contributed to several strategic and organisational development initiatives. Earlier, as Global Head of Mergers and Acquisitions and Business Planning at Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd., then India’s largest pharmaceutical company, he led cross-border acquisitions in Japan, Germany, the United States and France, in addition to overseeing a major divestment transaction. He also completed a landmark out-licensing agreement with a global pharmaceutical company. He held profit and loss responsibility for the Allied Business division, overseeing operations with revenues of approximately USD 40 million and a workforce of more than 350 employees. As a member of the Executive Committee, he played a key role in shaping the company’s strategic planning and policy framework.
Prior to this, at Core Healthcare, Mr. Desai served as Chief Financial Officer, where he distinguished himself by leading a Global Depositary Receipt (GDR) issuance at the age of 30. He also managed operations with revenues exceeding USD 100 million and a workforce of approximately 1,800 employees, while overseeing the implementation of complex manufacturing projects and ensuring compliance with critical regulatory requirements.
Mr. Desai holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from Sardar Patel University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University School of Management, Ahmedabad. Throughout his career, he has attended several executive education programmes, including those at The Wharton School and Harvard Business School. He has been a speaker at numerous prestigious national and international conferences and forums, including events in London and New York, and has delivered lectures at leading academic institutions, including the Post Graduate Programme (PGP) and Management Development Programmes (MDPs) at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA).
