Dr. Bing Wang is a distinguished scholar, educator, and practitioner who serves as Senior Lecturer in Global Economics and Management at the MIT Sloan School of Management. Prior to joining MIT, she was Associate Professor in Practice of Real Estate and the Built Environment at Harvard University, where she also served as Faculty Head of the Master of Design (MDes) in Real Estate programme for nearly 15 years.
Dr. Wang’s work lies at the intersection of value creation, real estate development and investment, urban innovation, and global market dynamics within entrepreneurial ecosystems and emerging technologies. She has led and collaborated on research and advisory projects with regional and city governments, environmental agencies, developers, and leading international organisations, including the World Bank, the United States National Science Foundation, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Bank of China, McKinsey & Company, and the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy.
Her research has been recognised with the Best Manuscript Award from the American Real Estate Society in both 2016 and 2018. Dr. Wang has authored and edited five books, including The Architectural Profession of Modern China (2011), Prestige Retail: Perspectives on the High-End Luxury Goods Markets (2014), Global Leadership in Real Estate and Design (2015), Understanding China’s Real Estate Markets (2022), and Innovation Dynamics of Real Estate: PropTech and Beyond (forthcoming). She has also published more than 40 book chapters, peer-reviewed journal articles, and research papers. She serves on the editorial boards of Planning Theory & Practice (United Kingdom), The Journal of Sustainable Real Estate (United States), and The Encyclopedia of Ecological Culture (China), and is a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of The German Journal of Real Estate Research (Germany).
Since 2012, Dr. Wang has co-chaired two flagship Real Estate Executive Programmes jointly offered by Harvard Business School and the Harvard Graduate School of Design. She currently serves as a Steering Committee Member of the Harvard China Fund. She is an elected Board Director of both the American Real Estate Society and the Chinese Society for Urban Studies, and a Board Governor of The School of Architecture, founded by Frank Lloyd Wright. She is also a member of the National Committee on United States–China Relations and serves as an advisor and principal partner in business collaborations across the United States, China, Luxembourg, Japan, Singapore, and Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Wang received both her Doctoral and Master’s degrees from Harvard University and her bachelor’s degree from Tsinghua University. She has served as a visiting faculty member and guest lecturer at leading institutions worldwide, including Tsinghua University, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), the University of Cambridge, and the University of Oxford.
