Dr. Anil Kashyap

Dr. Anil Kashyap (PhD) is presently leading the education initiative of Mahamati Skill and Education Foundation for the establishment of Ganesh Real Estate Management Institute (GREMI), with the aim of addressing the skills gap, particularly in the domain of real estate development in India. Dr. Kashyap is the Chairman Nominee of the Internal Monitoring-cum-Advisory Committee (IMAC) for the Centre of Excellence in Urban Planning and Design (CoEUD) at SPA Delhi, a Trustee of the RASTA Trust, and serves on the Board of FESTRA Foundation, which works towards sustainable communities. Dr. Anil Kashyap was appointed Director General of NICMAR in July 2021 and became the first President and Chancellor of NICMAR University Pune in June 2022. Under his leadership, NICMAR transformed into two degree-awarding universities in Pune and Hyderabad, along with one autonomous institute in Delhi. He also launched NICMAR Online, a digital education vertical, in addition to several new initiatives.

Prior to this, Dr. Kashyap held senior academic leadership roles at several large universities in the United Kingdom before returning to India in September 2021. He is a Chartered Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), a Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute, London, a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, United Kingdom, and a Fellow of the Institute of Town Planners, India. Dr. Kashyap has over 30 years of experience in practice, academia, and research, both in India and abroad. His expertise includes infrastructure development and finance, urban regeneration, and real estate research.

Dr. Kashyap holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with distinction from NIT Kurukshetra. He was conferred the Distinguished Alumnus Award by NIT Kurukshetra in 2023 for his contribution to higher education and public service. He also holds a Master’s degree in Urban Planning from SPA New Delhi and a PhD in Sustainable Built Environment from Ulster University, United Kingdom. Dr. Kashyap received training in Higher Education Leadership and Change Management at Harvard University.

Dr. Kashyap is a creative and lateral thinker, a strategic policy developer, and a change agent with an international outlook. He is an able administrator, a visionary leader with a clear sense of mission, and is passionate about excellence in higher education globally. He is also a motivating team player who enables those around him to perform at their best. With excellent communication skills, he regularly addresses large audiences and interacts effectively with individuals at all levels. His endeavour in higher education is to transform built environment education in India to address the shortage of skilled infrastructure professionals and contribute to the nation’s development priorities.
