Ms. Chhavi Moodgal has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, spanning investment banking, asset management, entrepreneurship, and institutional fundraising through endowments. She is currently the Founding Chief Executive Officer of the IIM Ahmedabad Endowment Fund (IIMAEF), where she has played a pivotal role in strengthening the Institute’s position as a global leader in thought leadership, research, and academic excellence. Prior to joining IIMAEF, she held leadership roles with the InCred Group, Scient Capital, Standard Chartered Bank, UBS, and Kotak Mahindra Bank.
As the Founding Chief Executive Officer of IIMAEF, Ms. Moodgal has been instrumental in advancing the Institute’s long-term vision by mobilising philanthropic support from alumni, corporates, and multilateral organisations. Under her leadership, IIMAEF has raised nearly twice the amount of funding secured throughout the Institute’s previous history within a period of just four years. The Fund currently manages commitments exceeding ₹615 crore, with more than two-thirds comprising unrestricted funds, providing the Institute with significant flexibility in allocating resources according to its strategic priorities. This contrasts with the fundraising models of many other Indian academic institutions, where a substantial proportion of donations are linked to naming rights, reflecting IIMAEF’s innovative approach to institutional philanthropy and stakeholder engagement.
Ms. Moodgal’s leadership and contributions to institutional fundraising have been recognised through several prestigious honours, including the FinNext Award (Dubai, 2024), the Great Indian Disruptive Woman Leader Award (2024), and the Great Indian Change Maker of the Year Award (2024), among others. These accolades acknowledge her pioneering work in reshaping philanthropy and fundraising within the higher education sector.
Ms. Moodgal holds a Bachelor’s degree (Honours) in Economics from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, University of Delhi, where she graduated with a Gold Medal in 2000. She subsequently completed her MBA (PGP 2004) from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad.
